Research on the Elimination Scheme of Stubborn Bird Nests in the Operation and Maintenance of Distribution Network Lines

  • This paper delves into the root causes of persistent bird nesting problems, including the natural adaptability of birds, the compatibility of bird repellents with the local environment, the improvement of patrol and management systems, and the design of crossarms on utility poles. To address these issues, a new type of bird repellent has been developed, and targeted defect elimination strategies have been formulated based on actual conditions. After field demonstrations and comprehensive assessments of advantages and disadvantages, the final implementation plan has been determined. Since its implementation, the number of power outages and trips caused by bird damage has decreased significantly, bringing obvious economic benefits. When selecting bird control solutions, this paper takes into account factors such as environmental protection, cost, and effectiveness to ensure that the selected solutions are both effective in bird control and meet environmental protection standards, with reasonable costs and high practical value.
