Research and Application of Series Reactors for 500 kV Transmission Lines

  • Due to the increase in the number of 500 kV hub substations, the degree of short-circuit current has also increased. Installing series reactors on the line is an effective measure to limit short-circuit current. In this paper, the composition, numbering rules, state definition, principles of switching operation, and operation and maintenance measures of series reactor intervals are analyzed, based on the 500 kV line series reactor project. The reference for the application of series reactors in transmission lines are provided.
